Yacht Charter for the Los Cabos Offshore Tournament

Short answer: the Los Cabos Offshore — the “Little Bisbee” — is the ideal entry into Cabo's October circuit: tuna and dorado score alongside marlin, the base entry is friendlier than the Black & Blue, and many teams use it as their warm-up. If you want your first Cabo tournament, this is the week and we have the boat.

The tournament fishes October 12–17, 2026 (fishing days: Oct 14–16). As a rule it falls in mid-October, a few days before the Black & Blue.

The official warm-up for the Black & Blue

The Los Cabos Offshore fishes the week before the Black & Blue and shares its venue and vibe, with one key difference: besides marlin, yellowfin tuna and dorado score. And they pay for real — at the last edition, with 139 teams and a $2.7 million purse, the heaviest dorado was a 52-pound bull worth $120,000 to its team. A 52-pound dorado is a fish any well-guided team can catch in October; that is exactly the point of this tournament. It also has a side few people mention: weighed fish get donated — last edition put over 11,000 pounds on local families' tables through Hope for Los Cabos.

Why it's the best tournament to debut in

Between the friendlier base entry, scalable optional jackpots and the multi-species format, the Offshore is more forgiving than the Black & Blue, where only a blue or black over 300 pounds counts. The last edition paints the picture: 369 billfish raised in three days — 148 stripes, 116 sailfish, 99 blues — meaning practically every boat out there got to fight something. Family teams and groups of friends compete seriously without big-scale pressure, and most come back hungry the following week for the big one.

The right boat for a multi-species format

A format where tuna and dorado score rewards versatility: a big working cockpit, a good livewell and speed to switch banks. The Cabo Express 35 and Cabo Express 45 are ideal; if the plan includes fighting a big blue too, the Viking 44 or Hatteras 60.

Frequently asked questions

Which species score in the Los Cabos Offshore?

Marlin (blue and black over the tournament minimum), yellowfin tuna and dorado. That multi-species mix is its signature versus the Black & Blue, where only blue or black marlin score.

Can I fish the Offshore and the Black & Blue with the same boat?

Yes — that's what many teams do: book the boat across both weeks with practice days in between. It's our most requested October package and the first to sell out.

Do I need prior tournament experience?

No. Captain and crew know the rules and the event's operation; your team fishes while they handle strategy, bait and the official clock.
