Cabo tournaments combine technical competition, formal rules, and major international attention. This guide covers the essentials to participate or experience tournament season professionally.
Key tournaments
- Bisbee's Black & Blue: the richest marlin tournament on the planet (the purse topped US$11.6 million in 2022, a record). It runs the week of October 19–24, 2026, with three official fishing days (Oct 21–23). Only blue and black marlin score: weighed at 300 lb (about 136 kg) or more, or released for a flat 300 points; striped marlin, sailfish and spearfish are catch-and-release only.
- Los Cabos Offshore ("Little Bisbee"): the warm-up event that comes first on the calendar, running October 12–17, 2026 (fishing days: Oct 14–16) — many teams fish it ahead of the Black & Blue, with marlin, tuna and dorado on the scoreboard.
- Cabo Tuna Jackpot: closes the big tournament season, running November 4–7, 2026 (fishing days: Nov 5–6). It is an established yellowfin tuna event with official registration and rules published each year.
